I really don't like comparing artists because everybody is unique and has their own style and works very hard at their craft. But, Ari Lennox sounds a whole lot like Erykah Badu to me. When I first heard her single, "BMO" (which stands for Break Me Off) I thought for sure that was Erykah.
She has the same cadence, the same twang if you will and just gives me the same vibe. There isn't a problem with that at all, but the similarities in their voices are so close, it's kinda scary. Maybe it's just me, but throughout the whole song I hear Erykah.
No disrespect, and again I'm not saying she's biting her style or anything like that, but listen for yourself. The 28-year-old singer and songwriter from D.C. definitely has talent and a sultry vibe that I like. It's good soul music.
