Hip Hop icon Missy Elliott has been doing her thing for the past 20 years and she has proven to be an icon in the Hip Hop world. Her use of creativity in her videos, the songs and her production skills were very well recognized at the MTV Video Music Awards Monday.
Not only was she given the honor of receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Missy also performed her biggest hits, including her latest single "Throw It Back" from her new EP Iconology.
When accepting the award, presented by Cardi B, Missy of course thanked those in her camp and in the music industry, but she especially gave a shout to the dance communities, stating that "they are the icing on the cake" during her and other artist performances. Props to Missy for giving us some great dance hits over the years. And although she's had some setbacks from health issues, she has proven that she can keep going.
