Millions Of Pounds Of Plastic Floating Into Lake Michigan Each Year

There is a serious problem with pollution that can eventually affect the way we live. Millions of pounds of plastic is floating into the Great Lakes each year, and most of the pollution is pouring into Lake Michigan. Each year about 22 million pounds of plastic finds it way into our beautiful waters and this has got to stop.

On any given day you can find anything from diapers to bottle tops to beer cans floating along the beach. The pollution not only affects the beaches, but also the waters it floats in. Our ecosystem is harmed by this practice by humans. We cannot continue to pollute our beaches and lakes, it has to stop immediately.

Imagine throwing a bottle top in the water and a fish chokes on it? Or what about a creature being tangled in a piece of plastic, or harmed by a sharp object, such as a broken beer bottle? Thousands and thousands of pounds of the trash is collected each year by volunteers but it is a never-ending job to keep our beaches and not only Lake Michigan, but all of the Great Lakes clean.

Please do not litter, please recycle and help save planet earth.
