Darryl W. Dennard is a face and voice familiar to radio listeners and television viewers everywhere. As a broadcast journalist with more than three decades experience, he has interviewed influencers from President Barack Obama to Oprah Winfrey to Michael Jackson.  


He is an award-winning Radio and Television broadcast Journalist. His news anchoring and producing talents are heard weekly on iHeartMedia’s WVAZ-FM, WGCI-FM and WGRB-AM’s News and Community Affairs programming. He is the host and producer of Chicago Insight and Chicago Speaks, one of Chicagoland’s top rated radio programs, airing live on Sundays from 6am to 8am on V103. 


His producing and on-camera skills were broadcast via syndication to tens of millions of homes through The Black Enterprise Report (BER), on WGN Cable and Satellite feeds. Prior to BER, he was host/producer of The Minority Business Report for several years, the nation’s longest running television program devoted to minority business. His news and marketing experience has him in high demand as a moderator and public speaker for clients like Hyatt Corporation, the Metropolitan Transit Authority in New York, and the New York School Construction Authority.   


Darryl W. Dennard is no stranger to broadcast news. He received his BA degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Buffalo State University in New York, where in 2022 he was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa. He began his career as a reporter at WGRZ-TV the NBC affiliate in Buffalo, New York. He then went on to serve as co-host of the nationally syndicated Ebony-Jet Showcase. During his stint at Johnson Publishing Company, he was also Associate Editor of Ebony Man magazine. 


After leaving Johnson Publishing Company, he was hired as morning news anchor for Good Day Chicago on WFLD-TV in Chicago. Following his stint at WFLD he went on to host a myriad of programs including Know Your Heritage, NAACP ACT-SO Awards and BET’s Screen Scene.  


For more than five years Mr. Dennard was the Executive Director of the Radio and Television Broadcasting and Theatre Departments at Kennedy King College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago.  


What Mr. Dennard is most proud of is his commitment to God, Family and Community. He is a member of the Men’s Leadership Team, Moderator for the Young Brothers for Christ Youth Ministry and Sunday School Teacher at the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago. Professionally he has held membership with the 100 Black Men of Chicago, National Alliance of Market Developers, Black Public Relations Society and former Board Member of the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce. Most important to him are his loving wife Darlene, their two children, Autumn, a graduate of Howard University and Darryl Jr, a fine arts graduate from The Cooper Union in New York City, his Son-in-law Brian and Grandson Ari and Granddaughters Milo and Harper.
