More than a dozen men affiliated with a street gang have been charged in federal court with gun and drug trafficking near the Altgeld Gardens public housing complex on the South Side, Department of Justice officials said today.

The men are alleged members or associates of the Black Disciples street gang. Of the group, 16 men were arrested on Thursday, one man was arrested today and a nationwide manhunt is underway for the final man, according to a press release issued by the FBI.

Officials said that 12 of the men who were charged were arrested in the Chicago area by the FBI's Safe Streets Gang Task Force with the assistance of Chicago Police. Two were arrested in Wisconsin, one man was arrested in Iowa and the remaining two men were arrested in Indiana, FBI officials said.
