Risk of Diabetes High in Women Who Work Overtime

Do you work more than 40 hours a week? Are you one of those super charged women who perhaps clocks in about 65 hours of work a week? Well if you are, you may want to consider slowing down a bit because according to a study published in the journal BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, women who work a lot are at a higher risk of diabetes.

The study showed that women who work 45 hours or more a week on a consistent basis had a 63% percent greater risk of diabetes compared with those who worked between 35 and 40 hours a week.

Some of the reasons for the risk include lower pay, stress, unhealthy diet and the lack of exercise and proper sleep. Now I know first hand that I fall into some of these categories but it is important for us to take care of our bodies because after all, if we aren't feeling well and are unhealthy, we will no longer be able to clock in those hours.
