Next week can be a traffic nightmare for thousands of commuters with the proposed shut down of Lake Shore Drive by some Chicago activists. Not only will hundreds of thousands of concert-goers be at Lollapalooza, but there's also a Cubs game at Wrigley Field on Aug. 2 when the march is set to take place.
Activists planned to protest to bring attention to the fact that there is no economic development on the south and west sides, so they want to bring a "taste" of that to the north side by disrupting traffic. The march is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will proceed north on Lake Shore Drive to Clark Street, causing traffic chaos for Cubs fans.
The group is also marching against gun violence and police-involved shootings that continue to plague Chicago residents. Protesters are also calling for Mayor Emanuel and CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson to resign their positions in the wake of all the violence in the city.
If this march goes as planned, even if you take public transportation you can still expect to be stuck.
