Elevator Keeps Getting Stuck At Former John Hancock Building

Can you imagine heading to your apartment and all of a sudden the elevator stops? That is the most frightening experience in the world and I have to admit that it has happened to me twice, most recently just a few weeks ago. I cannot even describe the type of fear that comes over your body because you are uncertain of what will happen next.

Will the elevator doors open up to a concrete wall? Will the elevator shaft plummet to the bottom which can be several stories? Will it shoot up to the top? I'm telling you, that has to be one of the biggest fears ever.

Residents are worried because the elevator at the former John Hancock building downtown has been inoperable a couple of times within a weekend recently, both times trapping people inside. The first incident caused the elevator to suddenly drop about a foot or so, causing debris to fly around, and the other incident involved a cable breaking and the elevator dropping a whole nine floors! The people inside had to crawl through a 4-foot space to be rescued.

I am not a big fan of elevators to begin with, and just the thought of getting caught in one gives me anxiety just about every time I step in one.
