Hate Is A Strong Word, But I Hate Possums

I know hate is a very strong word, and I really try to never use it in my vocabulary but I'm going to have to use it to describe how I feel about possums. I don't like them. I really, really don't like them at all. I never have and I never will.

With the humid summer nights we have been having lately, that seems like the perfect weather for possums to creep out of nowhere and waddle their way across the yard. They are not attractive. They are creepy. And they scare me. I was driving the other night, came up to the house and one of those little jokers looked me right in the eye as if to say, "So, what are you about to do?" I thought the thing would be scared and scurry away but it waited until I parked my car.

I didn't get out of the car right away because I didn't know where the thing was and if it wasn't afraid of me in the car, why would it be afraid of me out of the car? It has been said that animals are afraid of people, but guess what? I don't think they are. As a matter of fact I know they are NOT afraid of humans! And to think these things can actually hang upside down by their disgusting tails and act like they're asleep.

I love nature and I love God's creatures, but possums? What exactly is their function on earth? I just wish they could all go away.
