It's been 30 years? Seriously?
No, I cannot believe it was 30 years ago that Janet Jackson hit our TV screens with her video for "Rhythm Nation 1814." Watching the video was something like a big deal because Jan was one of the innovators for the videos that looked like a mini movie.
With the background in an industrial building with everyone dressed in black and the most precision-rhythmic moves, everybody was trying to copy the dance steps and dress like Janet. I know I did. And I had those moves down to a science, including the iconic finger countdown at the beginning.
I'll always be a fan of Ms. Jackson. And I'm so happy that she is still dancing her way across stages all around the world 30 years later.
