Our children have really gone through a lot of adjusting since the beginning of the pandemic. Many students have been taken out of school, and depending on remote learning to keep them educated and motivated since mid-March.
There have been reports of under-served communities not having the proper, if any WIFI service, and other children reportedly haven't logged in for their school work or to communicate with their teachers. That notion is very scary if in fact that's true.
Education is so very important and I really hope that parents and guardians and other family members will become part of the village that will help continue to educate our children. I know it must be very stressful for parents during this time, but we cannot slack on our kids' learning. They are our future and we need them to constantly learn.
Following is the Chicago Public Schools reopening plan, and parents will have the option of keeping their children at home and not having them return to school buildings.
Kindergarten - 10th graders will spend 2 days in class, and 3 days remote.
11th-12th graders will have remote learning only.
Masks will be required in schools.
Parents and guardians can take a reopening survey at cps.edu. The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 8.
