All I can do right now is hope that the grand jury decision in the police shooting of Breonna Taylor is in favor of her family and her legacy.
I'm wondering why Gov. Pritzker said the Illinois National Guard is at the ready for the announcement, which is expected to happen sometime this afternoon. Also, in Louisville there were preparations being made for the announcement, with several buildings being boarded up and restricted traffic access in the downtown area.
To me this sounds and looks as though we are bracing for another disappointing outcome. I really hope that's not the case. Just last week Breonna's family was awarded a $12 million settlement from the city of Louisville. No amount of money will ever bring the 26-year-old medical technician back, nor will it ease the pain from her family of the thought of her being shot multiple times by police.
I just pray for peace, not only in our country but around the whole wide world. And I also pray for justice for Breonna Taylor and the countless others who have died wrongfully.
