Chicago Public School students are petitioning CPS to shorten their school days. The students say that staring at a computer all day is giving them headaches, causing stress and anxiety and many are depressed because they have no social life with their friends. The students are also asking that they are not assigned homework during remote learning.
I realize the importance of remote learning due to the pandemic but this is something that really should be considered because these students are the future, and what they're describing could possibly turn into another health crisis that we just cannot afford.
I do believe in the safety and health our our youth being a top priority, but I wonder if some creative minds are somewhere thinking of alternate ways to educate our children. Unfortunately the number of cases of coronavirus in Illinois are on the rise.
