As we enter Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating Black Girl Magic all month long and the stories of two iconic women of show business are being told on screen.
It was just announced this week that LeBron James’ production firm Springhill Company is backing a mini-series on ABC Signature Studios on the life of legendary singer, dancer and activist Josephine Baker. It stars actress Ruth Negga, who looks so much like Josephine, it’s stunning and eerie. Paula Patton has also been working on a separate film on Baker’s life.
And in another casting with uncanny resemblance, singer, model and actress Teyana Taylor is set to star as a young Dionne Warwick in a new Netflix series about the diva’s life. It all came about after Dionne tweeted late last year that Teyana was her first choice to play her. And Netflix listened!
