Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Put on Pause Due To Risks

The U.S. has put a pause on the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine because there is a rare clotting risk. The White House today held a briefing to give Americans an update on the manufacture and distribution of the vaccine. Following are facts about the J&J vaccine according to the update:

The vaccine is recommended by the FDA and CDC.

With more than 6.8 million doses given, SIX cases of blood clots in the brain and low platelets were reported.

All of the clots occurred in women, who are between the ages of 18-48. There was one unfortunate death and one person was listed in critical condition.

The blood clotting risks occurred 6-13 days after vaccination.

If you are scheduled for a J&J vaccine, you will be quickly rescheduled to receive a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine instead. Contact your doctor if you experience any symptoms or unusual side affects if you received the J&J vaccine.
