Today, we celebrate the future with a magical 12 year old! Her name is Alena Wicker and she was recently featured on Good Morning America.
Alena is a certified genius… she’s graduating high school next month and will dive right into college, with a double major in chemistry and astronomical and planetary science at Arizona State University. And it all started with Legos… Alena’s mom says she knew her child was special when she saw what she could do with the building blocks at age 4.
Alena’s ultimate goal is to become an engineer at NASA – she’s been saying since she was really little that she wants to be the youngest black female engineer at the agency. But she’s already hard at work now, encouraging other girls who love science and technology with her website Brown STEM Girl (& check out the site's Instagram account here and more on Alena below).
