Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend which means out clocks will "fall back" an hour in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 7th, at 2 a.m. to be exact.
What are you going to do with your extra hour? You could hang out tonight or sleep in tomorrow morning… but the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal wants you to use it to be safe.
They recommend that when you change your clocks, also test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and check expiration dates and change the batteries.
They also said it’s also a good time to review and practice your family’s fire escape plan, “since there is an increase in fires during the cold weather months, the time you have to escape a fire can be as little as 3 minutes."
Let’s keep it safe and sleep well!!
