Black People Magic: Olympian Erin Jackson

Congratulations to speed skater Erin Jackson! She made history at the Olympics on a few different levels this week!

She became the first Black woman to win an individual medal in the women's 500 meter speed skating event. She is also the first American woman to win gold in speed skating at the Olympics in nearly 30 years, since Bonnie Blair placed first in 1994.

She got one thing wrong though… she said on Twitter that with all the emotions of the big moment, she put her gold medal on backward during the medal ceremony.

& here’s a little inspiration on how it's never too late to get great: Erin started her athletic career as an in-line skater (rollerblades, basically) but she didn’t take her first steps onto the ice until just 6 years ago. That’s magic y’all!

She even posted video of her first time on the ice and she did waaaaay better than most of us!

& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
