Black People Magic: Mo'Nique Reunites with Lee Daniels

This week may have started with a slap, but it’s ending with peace… Oscar winning actress and comedienne Mo’Nique is reuniting with director Lee Daniels on his new high-profile Netflix film, “Demon House,” replacing Octavia Spencer after she had to back out due to production on a project for Apple TV.

Mo’Nique and Lee last worked together on “Precious,” which was the role that got her the Academy Award. Mo later said that Lee, along with producers Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, blackballed her in Hollywood for not doing extra unpaid work to promote the film. Word is Mo’Nique and Lee hadn’t spoken in 13 years. And Mo recently took Netflix to court over unfair pay practices.

“Demon House” is based on a story from Gary, Indiana from 2011, where a woman and her three children were traumatized in a house purported to be possessed by 200 demons. It became a documentary in 2014.

Wishing Mo the very best and glad to see her acting again! & Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
