Oscar-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney is back in Chicago with an amazing play at the Steppenwolf Theater. He’s an alum of DePaul and spent a lot of time creating his work here in Chicago, but he's probably best known for co-writing the screenplay to the 2017 best picture winner, “Moonlight” and he’s also the mind behind the OWN Network’s “David Makes Man.”
Choir Boy is his Tony-nominated play that tells the story of a young gay Black man and the conflict between his identity, talent and belonging in our community… I got the chance to talk with Tarell earlier this week and you can watch our whole conversation below.
Choir Boy runs through July 24th at Steppenwolf Theater and has some adult themes. Tickets available at this link.
