Community Connect is always here to hook you up and help you out with resources you can use…
The Chicago Park District and the Department of Streets and Sanitation are hosting their annual Holiday Tree Recycling Program at 27 parks throughout the city starting today and running through January 20th.
Instead of throwing out the live or natural tree you got this year in the trash, you can take it to participating park district locations to be turned into mulch – that you can also get to benefit the soil for your lawn, plants and trees come spring.
You can drop off your trees during normal park hours… just make sure that you remove all tinsel, ornaments, lights, stands and the tree bags you use to get them there. Unfortunately, they’re not able to accept garlands or wreaths for recycling.
And starting Monday, January 8th, six of the park locations across the city will also have free mulch available to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
