Not sure how it’s already the last weekend in January already but here’s What’s Happening This Weekend... let’s get into it!

Terence Blanchard’s opera in jazz “Champion” opens tonight at the Lyric Opera. It’s based on a true story of legendary boxer Emile Griffith and explores his guilt over defeating a challenger who died and his own sexuality.

Morton Arboretum hosts its annual Seed Swap today from noon to 3 pm. Bring in your leftover seed packets, and trade them for vegetable, herb, native and ornamental seeds to plant this spring.  Admission to the event is free with paid admission.

Check out the Hyde Park Handmade Artisan Bazaar at The Promontory starting at 10 am tomorrow (Sunday). The event is free with vendors, cocktails and music!

Chicago Restaurant Week continues through February 4th, back for its 17th year with more than 380 Chicagoland eateries with special menus and prices.

Looking ahead to next week:

Next Saturday, February 3rd, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company takes over Auditorium Theater at 7:30pm for one night only, with “Star Dust,” their ballet tribute to David Bowie with a soundtrack that covers the superstar’s over 40 year career.

Next Friday and Saturday, Sheryl Underwood from “The Talk” hits the Improv in Schaumburg with 2 shows each night. Get your tickets now!

Whatever you choose, have fun and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
