Tonight, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater opens its 29th season at The Auditorium Theater with a one-night-only performance of “Sacred Spaces,” set to gospel music from Mahalia Jackson.
Lots of new shows at the Lyric Opera of Chicago… the classic The Marriage of Figaro opened last weekend and runs through the end of the month and tonight at 7:30 is the premiere of “Blue” premieres, telling the moving, modern story of a Black middle-class family in Harlem whose hopes and dreams for their teenage son are shattered when he is shot by a white police officer. The Lyric has special ticket prices and events for this show through December 1st.
