What's Happening This Weekend: Live Dance, Music & Holiday Lights Begin

It's a great weekend for the arts, music and the start to the holiday lights season... let's get into it!

Tonight, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater opens its 29th season at The Auditorium Theater with a one-night-only performance of “Sacred  Spaces,” set to gospel music from Mahalia Jackson.

Lots of new shows at the Lyric Opera of Chicago… the classic The Marriage of Figaro opened last weekend and runs through the end of the month and tonight at 7:30 is the premiere of “Blue” premieres, telling the moving, modern story of ​​a Black middle-class family in Harlem whose hopes and dreams for their teenage son are shattered when he is shot by a white police officer. The Lyric has special ticket prices and events for this show through December 1st.  

Tonight blues singer Shemekia Copeland is at City Winery Chicago at 7:30pm...

Today is Time Out Market Chicago's 5th Anniversary starting at 11am at 916 W. Fulton Market. Enjoy bites from the city's best restaurants, plus live music, flash tattoos, a photo booth, and more!

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is at the Drury Lane Theater in Oakbrook now through January 12th. Relive the magic of songs you know and discover a few new favorites, along with some great special effects!  

ZooLights Lincoln Park is back until January 5th at the Lincoln Park Zoo, featuring more than 3 million lights, the thrilling holiday light tunnel, and the iconic ferris wheel, and new this year, bask in the holiday spirit in the light lounge. 

& Tomorrow the Chicago Bears will play the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field at noon on Fox.
