Entertainment Scoop: Jamie Speaks His Piece & Urkel's Working Ppl's Nerves

If you hadn’t seen the news yet, Jamie Foxx was out celebrating his 57th birthday at dinner Friday night at Mr. Chow’s in Beverly Hills and ended it needing stitches when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. Police were called but no arrests were made.

Jamie posted his response on Instagram yesterday, saying: “The devil is busy... but I'm too blessed to be stressed… The devil is a lie. Can’t win here... thank you to everybody that prayed and checked on me... when your light is shining bright... they try to bring you to darkness... but they don’t know you’re built for it... the lights have been shining bright.”

Amen to that, Jamie’s right! His new special What Had Happened Was… that premiered on Netflix last Tuesday is number 1 on the streamer. And if you haven’t seen it yet, it is AMAZING!

And actor Jaleel White, best known as Steve Urkel from Family Matters, is still getting heat after his remarks over the past couple of weeks on why he believes the show wasn’t as popular among Black People. He’s been on a tour, promoting his new book Growing Up Urkel, and said that was because it wasn’t a “hood story,” comparing it to Martin and Living Single and said he sometimes felt left out of the Black community because of it.

The exact quote from the conversation went like this: “If it's not a hood story, it’s not a Black story, and sometimes I feel left out of that. If there’s ever a poll and they say, ‘What are your favorite Black shows?’... [if] Martin is in there or Living Single, or any of those kinds [of shows], I already know we’re (Family Matters) coming in last.”

Everybody on social media is basically responding with a collective "boy please" to that mess because there's no way you can fix your mouth to say those show were “hood” stories.
