Community Connect always hooks you up and helps you out with resources you can use… this weekend, it’s all about helping the young people in your life move forward with an enriching summer!
ComEd is looking for the best teen girl go-cart-ers! The ComEd EV Rally is a girls-only competition where teams learn STEM through building and racing electric go-carts. The application (that you can find at this link) is open to female Illinois residents between the ages of 13 and 18. Applications will close at 11:59 p.m. tomorrow night (Sunday, June 1st). 45 teens will be selected and will work with ComEd mentors to build an electric vehicle. The program concludes with a once-in-a-lifetime experience where participants will race their vehicles at the iconic Griffin Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday, July 26. At the completion of the program, each participant will receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their ongoing STEM education pursuits.
Destiny Outreach Dreams & Destiny Entertainment is looking for summer apprentices. The program is open to Illinois residents between 16 and 24 years old, who are seeking careers in the entertainment, media, content creation, and digital tech industries. They’ll earn money while gaining hands-on experience in those industries, developing skills, and learning about opportunities to build creative careers in show business, AI and virtual production, union trades, and more. Limited spaces are available. Orientation is Tuesday, June 3rd and the program launch is Friday, June 6th with paid training. Apply here this weekend!
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
