Community Connect: Free Mammograms in the Community

Community Connect is here to hook you up and help you out with resources you can use… this week, it’s free help ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

The Chicago Park District has partnered with Rush MD Anderson Medical Center to offer free mobile digital screening mammograms for women 40 and older.

Rush MD Anderson breast imaging mammographers and leaders will be onsite in the parking lot of the Humboldt Park Boathouse (1301 N. Humboldt Drive) next week, from Tuesday, September 2nd through Friday, September 5th from 8am to 4:30pm each day to provide mammograms, answer questions, and provide resources and education about breast health, including information about follow-up care and support.

No insurance is required and walk-ins are welcome, just bring a single form of photo identification--it can be a State or Federal government-issued ID, visa or passport or employer-issued photo ID or badge. You can also make an appointment by calling 312-942-3225.

If you decide to go and get a mammogram, make sure you wear a two-piece outfit, leave your jewelry and other valuables at home, and do not wear deodorant, powder, cream or ointment that day. See all the info at the flyer below.

And we're also sending get well wishes and prayers to one of Chicago’s legendary WVON Good Guys, Super Jay Johnson… he’s recovering from serious illness and needs support. There’s a GoFundMe at this link to help him after he's given so much to radio fans.

& Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
