Community Connect: Free Turkeys and Help Getting Food for the Holiday

Community Connect has help for families for Thanksgiving... which will be extra helpful as SNAP benefits roll back online in the next week.

On Tuesday, November 18th, Grace Central Outreach and Senior Pastor Darius Brooks host their annual Thanksgiving Dinner Box Giveaway. The free Thanksgiving dinner boxes will include a frozen Turkey or Chicken and a full meal for a family. The giveaway is open to the public and will run from 5 to 7pm as a drive thru pick up on a first come, first served basis while supplies last at 10216 Kitchener Street in Westchester. There is a limit of one box per household and while you do not need to show your ID, onsite registration is required. Families will also receive additional free food items. See flyer below for more info.

And the Black McDonald's Owners Association has been hosting their 25th Annual Food for the Body and Spirit all week long, providing free turkeys with all the trimmings at 5 different locations in the area. Today (Saturday 11/15), you can find them giving away free turkeys starting at 8am at McDonalds, 19767 S. Halsted in Chicago Heights. Early arrival is recommended. Free turkeys will be given away while supplies last, along with baked goods and gift cards for extra food essentials. Veterans can access VIP line entry upon presenting proof of military service.

Here's to getting all the help we need and giving all the help we can!
