On March 12th, Trisha Yearwood celebrated her 20th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member. The milestone was celebrated with an introduction from her musical hero and several messages from her closest celebrity friends.
Country Music Hall of Famer and Opry member, Emmylou Harris introduced the âSheâs In Love With The Boyâ singer to the stage by warmly declaring, âFrom the moment we first heard that stunning voice and saw that beautiful smile, we fell in love with Trisha Yearwood.â
Trisha beamed and accepted the compliment. She then shared that she was wearing a necklace that once belonged to Patsy Cline before the Cline family passed it along to her as a gift on the night of her Opry induction. The ornamented chain is a gift that Trisha has always treasured. Trisha then sang âSweet Dreams,â which had been a chart-topping hit for both Patsy and Emmylou.
Trisha was also joined by Ricky Skaggs on stage to perform a duet of the song, âTwo Highway.â The moment was a special one for both performers, as Ricky was the honored artist who asked Trisha to join the Opry in January 1999.
Many artists also came together to share their praise for the double decade honoree. Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, Brenda Lee, submitted video messages while husband Garth Brooks pleased the crowd with a duet of âWhiskey To Wine.â
Trishaâs grand finale came in the form of a promise. âWeâre gonna do this again in 20 years. Count on it.â She vowed.
