Kanye's Sunday Service Brings Peace And Unity To Chicago

God moves in mysterious ways.

For months Kanye West has been conducting his Sunday Service event where he joins a choir in singing gospel songs, some of his songs remixed and songs we're very familiar with at random locations. Just recently I was going to tweet the superstar to ask him when he would be bringing it to Chicago. I never sent the tweet and ironically the rapper held the service this past weekend in our hometown.

In the book of Matthew, Chapter 18 Verse 20 the Bible states, "Where there are two or three gathered in my name, I will be in the midst." And was His presence felt! The Sunday Service took place at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island with thousands in attendance waiting for hours and in the rain for the service to begin.

Although Kanye performs in the round with his 40-plus voice choir surrounding him, the focus is not on him at all. It is on the choir and the melodic sounds of praise and worship coming from their angelic voices. The Sunday Service is Christian-based, but non-denominational. There were so many different races and ages of people at the event, all celebrating life and unity with no incidents. Everybody was enjoying the sounds with Chicago's magnificent skyline and lake as the perfect backdrop.

No matter what your religious beliefs are, Kanye's Sunday Service is something to witness. It is NOT a church service, there is no preaching or tithes collected. It is simply a choir singing, having a good time and promoting peace ... just what Chicago needs.
