Chicago Health Center Provides Mental Illness Care for Kids 5 and Under

Can you believe children need help when it comes to mental illness just like adults? It's a sad truth, but with all of the different issues happening in our society today with the threat of deportation, poverty, gun violence, divorce and so much more, it's real.

Children are supposed to be laughing, playing and enjoying their youth, but many of them are depressed, have anxiety and suffer from mental illness. It just doesn't seem fair. Nobody, but especially a child should have to live this way.

The Erikson Institute is a clinic that aims to help children five years and younger deal with mental illness for those in the Little Village and Lawndale neighborhoods. The free-standing health center is also in River North. Although the center treats infant and early childhood clients with mental care, it helps parents just as much as the children it serves.
