What's Happening This Weekend At Home: laughs, a new doc & sea creatures

Memorial Day marks the star of summer but it's really the holiday reserved to honor those who died serving in the military… and this year, the holiday takes on new meaning because we’re fighting an enemy of a different sort.

A big part of the holiday is celebrating, so if you’re ready for some laughs, our sister station WGCI has partnered with the city of Chicago to provide entertainment while we stay at home on this long weekend. Leon Rogers is hosting a comedy special tomorrow night at 7pm starring Chicago’s funniest comedians… Damon Williams, Correy B and more.

As we get into this warmer weather, and the chances of increased violence in our communities, there’s a new documentary about how we got to this point. The Chicago International Film Festival is screening “Chicago at the Crossroad” for free all weekend and hosting a panel discussion on YouTube hosted by Robin Robinson on Tuesday night at 7pm. Let’s keep the peace this summer… and start with understanding.

And for the kids, check out Sea Curious at the Shedd Aquarium… they can take virtual adventures with all the cool creatures there!

Whatever you choose, have fun and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
