The Former Cook County Hospital Is Now A Hotel And More

Remember the old Cook County Hospital right off of the Eisenhower Expressway? It was closed in 2002 but now the old building has been renovated into a beautiful hotel.

Hyatt Hotel and Hyatt Place now occupy the former hospital which was closed in 2002. It was vacant for almost 20 years but it was never torn down. For years we have passed by the decrepit structure which now gleams with newness.

The renovations cost $1 billion and took several years to complete. Known as Harrison Square, the building will also house medical offices, a day care and a Cook County Hospital Museum.
