Selena Gomez confessed this is her first time voting in a presidential election.
The âRareâ singer-songwriter made an honest admission in her recent appearance on Voting Power Hour earlier this month. During the interview, the 28-year-old explained why, up until now, she chose not to vote in previous elections.
âHonestly, Iâm not ashamed to say this,â the Disney alum admitted. âBut⊠Iâm kind of⊠This was my first time.â
â"I'm going to say that, because I've never felt â and this is so true, and I'm now admitting it to people â like my vote counts," she explained, before stressing, "Every vote counts. Some people get in their head, and they're like, 'Oh, well what does it matter?ââ
However, thanks to Gomezâs new outlook, politics is âall she can focus on.â
"My main focus has been this right now," the âLose You to Love Meâ superstar expressed. "You can tell on my social media and everything, obviously, I'm super invested in this right now. It's been good. I feel hopeful.â
Gomez has also been using her platform to inspire fans to vote in next weekâs presidential election. âJust finished filling out my ballot!â the musician captioned a precious voting selfie of her sporting an âI Votedâ sticker on her black tank top.
The âLook At Her Nowâ singer isnât the only superstar to send out important PSAs on voting in the days leading up to election day. Demi Lovato shared a motivational message on voting and Gigi Hadid posted a surprising selfie to get her fans pumped about hitting the polls, too.
