Powerball Winner: Here's Who Won The $731.1 Million Jackpot

A single Powerball ticket sold in Maryland matched all six numbers to win the $731.1 jackpot on Wednesday.

"A single ticket sold in Maryland matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing to win the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history," a Thursday morning release from Powerball stated.

Results from Wednesday's Powerball game will be listed below:

NUMBERS: 40-53-60-68-69

POWERBALL: 22

POWER PLAY: 3x

The jackpot winner will have the option of accepting the estimated annuity of $731.1, which will be paid in 30 graduated payments during a 29-year span, or a lump sum payment of $546.8 million, both of which are before taxes, according to the news release.

Wednesday's jackpot was the fifth largest in Powerball history. The Powerball jackpot has exceeded the half a billion mark nine times during its existence.

Three tickets in California, Florida and Tennessee won the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot in January 2016, which set the record for the world's largest jackpot (cash value and annuity) and was the ninth largest cash value per ticket.

The Mega Millions and Powerball games offered a combined jackpot of more than $1 billion this week. Mega Millions still has a jackpot of $970 million, with a cash option worth $716.3 million, for its next drawing on Friday (January 22) night after there were no jackpot winners on Tuesday (January 19) night.

The Mega Millions jackpot has exceeded the half billion mark five times in its existence. If a player wins on Friday, it would be the second largest jackpot in the game's history.

In October 2018, a ticket was sold in South Carolina winning $1.537 billion ($878 million cash value), which is the world's largest jackpot for a single ticket and the largest cash value for a single ticket.
