Karen Lewis, Former Chicago Teachers Union Leader Dies at 67

Former Chicago Teachers Union leader, Karen Lewis has died at 67 years old after a long battle with brain cancer.

Before stepping down from the CTU due to her health struggles, Karen led Chicago Public School teachers on a week long strike to fight for teachers pay and benefits.

Before becoming CTU president, Lewis spent 22 years as a teacher and taught at both King College Prep High School and Lane Tech. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
