Earth, Wind & Fire defended Steve Harvey against fan backlash over his Versuz hosting style, while promoting their upcoming live performance at the Race to Erase MS drive-in gala.

The iconic band, famous for disco classicslike “September,” came to the comedian’s defense after he hosted their April 4Versuzbattle with The Isley Brothers.Steve, 64, wasaccused on Twitterof hijacking the Verzuz battle with his non-stop storytelling.

ButVerdine White, a founding member of EWF, toldHollywoodLifeEXCLUSIVELY that the band was more than happy to have Steve take the mic. “We needed a rah rah manandhe’s the rah rah man, so Steve did his thing. He did his thing, you know,andit was all in love,” theGrammyaward winner explained.
