Chicago's DuSable Museum Celebrates Dr. King Today and Every Day

Today should not be just another day off as we celebrate the national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today should be a day of service, a day where we learn more about this man who was a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement. This should be a day of giving back, and moving forward with love and peace, as Dr. King moved during those dark days of injustice and turmoil for black people.

So parents, please make sure that you teach your children about Dr. King. Adults, pick up a book and learn more about this man who marched for justice. Go to YouTube and watch the "I Have A Dream" speech. Every time I watch it I learn something else.

There are many events taking place throughout Chicagoland honoring Dr. King, including "King Day 2020" at the DuSable Museum of African American History. The museum features hundreds of artifacts from the Civil Rights Movement and today is a celebration of Dr. King's life and mission.

The DuSable Museum is open until 6 p.m. and is located at 740 E. 56th Place on Chicago's south side.
