“iHeartMedia Chicago is kicking off ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ month in October with our annual ‘Sista Strut Breast Cancer Walk,’” said Matt Scarano, President of iHeartMedia Chicago. “It is important that we continue to create opportunities that support the on-going efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. We are thankful to our advertisers and community partners who share our vision.”

The 3k breast cancer walk will be hosted by 107.5 WGCI Morning Show Co-Host Kendra G, The Steve Harvey Morning Show Co-Host Carla Ferrell, V103 Midday Host Bioncé Foxx, Inspiration 1390 Morning Show Host Sonya Blakey and ABC7 Chicago Reporter/Anchor Samantha Chatman. ABC7 Chicago is the exclusive TV partner for Sista Strut. The walk will kick off with family entertainment and local vendors.

Sista Strut will take place Saturday, October 1 at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center at 1250 West 119th Street on the Southside of Chicago. Listeners can “strut” for free and are encouraged to register in advance and donate to the Sisters Network Chicago, Inc.

AIDS Run/Walk Chicago

Now in its 31st year, the AIDS Run & Walk Chicago returns to Chicago’s Soldier Field on Sunday, October 2nd to help create equity and justice across Chicagoland and raise awareness and funds for individuals who are living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. This year’s theme, Forward Together, aims to look beyond our current state and focus on what we can do to create a better future for people living with HIV and AIDS.

This year, Walgreens will be on-site providing Pfizer booster shots, Omicron booster shots, and flu shots for participants. The event features the return of McDonald’s McRig for breakfast, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile for lunch and the MolsonCoors beer garden for refreshments following the Run/Walk. Providing entertainment for the day will be the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, DJ Harry Tyner and Donica Lynn. ARWC is once again hosted by legendary WGN on-air personality Dean Richards.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC), as well as 30 CommunityDirect recipients that provide programs and services, including testing, for those living with or vulnerable to HIV, AIDS and other chronic illnesses. Since the event was established in 1991, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has drawn more than 23,000 advocates and raised more than $5.5 million to battle the epidemic. For more information, visit aidsrunwalk.org or call 312-334-0953.
