If you're in a party mood or need a good excuse to dip out of your holiday party obligations, here are a few shows happening this week to get you out and about in the best way:
The 3rd Annual Timbuck2 Forever Tribute is Tuesday 12/19 at House of Blues at 9pm. It honors the memory of DJ Timbuck2 who passed away two years ago due to stage 4 renal cancer. The event raises money for the Timothy Francis Jones Foundation which was founded to better inform men of color on their health care and help them seek treatment for cancer when needed. The Chicago Reader did a write up on the event earlier this month and you can find out ticket info here.
5-time Grammy-nominee SZA is bringing her Love Galore to an all-ages show at Concord Music Hall in Logan Square on Wednesday 12/20. She's fresh off a great performance on SNL last weekend.. let's see what she brings to Chicago. The show is sold out, but the venue does have a link to a ticket exchange where they buy and sell tickets... for info, click here.
Roy Ayers is in town for two nights at The Promontory Chicago, Wednesday 12/20 and Thursday 12/21. Tickets and info are here.
Avery Sunshine has two shows at City Winery on Thursday 12/21 at 7 & 9:30... both are sold out, but the venue is still accepting names on the wait list. Get on it here.
Go on... it's the holidays! Stay out late and have fun on a weeknight!
