What's Happening This Weekend

posted by Jeanne Sparrow -

It's the weekend and if you still haven't made plans, it's not too late.  If you’re trying to get out tonight, superstar singer and native Chicagoan Mavis Staples is performing at The Vic in Lakeview at 8pm and last time I checked, tickets are still available here!

But of course, it’s Super Bowl weekend! Kick off is tomorrow at 5:30pm and the game will air on NBC.  It’s looking like a record-breaker already, the network says they sold out all their commercial time and it’s forecast to be the coldest Super Bowl on record.  I don’t know what else anybody would expect with it being in Minneapolis… but people had the nerve to be “worried” about the weather if Chicago ever hosted it.  The entertainment should be pretty good too... Pink is still planning to sing the National Anthem even though she's fighting the flu (eek!), probably because this game is really special for her since she’s from Philadelphia and her Eagles are facing the Patriots.  Justin Timberlake will perform at half-time and he says there are no special guests, but I pray Janet shows up!

And before that, it’s my favorite part of Super Bowl Sunday – Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet at 2pm!  There are two pups from Chicago featured in this year’s match-up between the Fluffs and the Ruffs… Miss Brie from the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago and Stripe from One Tail at a Time.  See their photos below!

Whatever you choose, have fun... and don't you ever let me hear you say you don't have anything to do!

Are you ready for some footballlll...with puppies? 🐶🏈 Join us this Sunday at @parkandfield for our second annual Puppy Bowl viewing! We’ll have Stripe on hand (pictured above in his official bowl photo), who is FAMOUS and competed this year! From 12-3pm we’ll have adoptable dogs, celebrity paw-topgraphs with Stripe, and they’ll have a drink special to benefit us! #puppybowl #teamfluff
