If you need some entertainment this weekend, you can find it whether you stay home or hit the streets…
Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes has created music that belongs almost every genre imaginable: disco, jazz, pop, r&b and hip-hop. The legend is playing two shows at City Winery tomorrow (Sunday) night… the 5pm show is sold out but there are still tickets for the 8pm show (last time I checked) and you can get on the waitlist for the first show. You can also get tickets to meet & greet with Sergio before each show. All the info you need, you can find here.
For some family fun on Sunday, head to Promontory in Hyde Park for a taping of the Chicago public access hit show, “Chic-A-Go-Go” where kids of all ages can have fun, dance and be on tv! It’s from 12-2pm and it’s free, but they'd like you to register here.
And if you’re a sports fan, stay indoors and soak up the pageantry this weekend. Tonight the Bulls head to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves, game time at 8pm on WGN.
But the big show will be closing ceremonies for the Winter Olympics tomorrow… you can watch them live at 5am but you might want to wait for the full show with commentary during primetime at 7pm on NBC. Tara Lipinski & Johnny Weir are slated to host and they bring the drama and entertainment… as if there isn’t enough at the Olympics already! Details and the schedule are here.
Whatever you choose, have fun... and don't you ever let me hear you say you don't have anything to do!
