What's Happening This Weekend (9/1/18)

posted by Jeanne Sparrow -

It’s the last official weekend of summer and there is music everywhere!

The 40th Chicago Jazz Festival runs through Sunday in Millennium Park… tonight, Ramsey Lewis takes the stage in what he’s saying will be his final Chicago concert.  And the festival is free.

North Coast Festival is happening in Union Park on the near West Side… with headliner Jamiroquai taking the stage tomorrow night.

African Festival of the Arts takes over Washington Park through Monday… in addition to all the great food and vendors, expect performances tonight by Twista & Keyshia Cole and Monday by Angela Winbush & Shaggy.

Whatever you decide, have fun and don’t let me ever hear you say you don’t have anything to do!

Saturday on the Main Stage, @keyshiacole 2018 @africanfestivalchicago Get tickets online at africanfestivalchicago.com @sheilaozons @afrozons #afachi

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Jazz Institute of Chicago are committed to presenting as much music as possible today. We don’t have plans to cancel any performances. As of now, the show will go on! Keep checking our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for real-time updates. @chicagodcase @jazzinstitute

Can you believe that @jamiroquaihq's debut studio album 'Emergency on Planet Earth' is 25 years old? Age aside, they still got it, just you wait and see. • Sun. 9/2 at #NCMF 👽🤠🚀🎶 • • #jamiroquai #spacecowboy #returnofthespacecowboy #emergencyonplanetearth #northcoast #northcoastfest #chicago #chicagoevents #chicagomusic
