Big Grammy Year for the Ladies!

The nominations for the Grammys came out yesterday (Friday) morning and it looks like music’s biggest night will be a big one for the ladies… there are more women nominated in the top categories (Album, Record & Song of the Year & Best New Artist) than in past years.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar topped the list of nominees with 8 and Drake was right behind him with 7.

Cardi B’s breakout year wraps up with 5 nods, including for Record of the Year… all in the same week that we heard more cheating allegations against her rapper husband Offset and a possible breakup of her marriage. Plus, she found out about her nominations after leaving court yesterday.

H.E.R. got the Academy’s notice with 5 nominations too… including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Another new artist on the scene, Ella Mai is nominated for 2 awards, including Song of the Year.

Other favorites up for Grammys include Beyonce & Jay-Z, Janelle Monae, Toni Braxton, Lalah Hathaway and Chris Rock. Check out the full list here.

The Grammys air February 10th, 2019 on CBS.
