Mardi Gras season in Louisiana started back in January, but New Orleans and the surrounding areas will reach the height of the party this weekend. The celebration with parades, parties, food, drink, music, beads and festivities happen all day and all night, going all weekend long until it all wraps up on Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday – the last day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
Here in Chicago, there are several places celebrating the holiday… Heaven on Seven is partying tonight and Tuesday and Ina Mae Tavern & Package Goods is hosting 5 days of Mardi Gras with New Orleans native, owner/Chef Brian Jupiter. And don’t forget about the bakeries all over town who will be serving up their sweet treats on Paczki Day!
However you choose to do it, take a break from all your work and worries on Tuesday… as we like to say in Louisiana, Laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)
