It's Black People Magic with Chicago connections this week!
Congratulations to the family of Ida B. Wells (who are still located here in the Chicago area)... their esteemed relative, a noted Chicagoan, was an investigative journalist, civil rights activist and leader in the fight for women’s right to vote.
And now, everyone passing through the nation's capitol will know what she looks like! A 1000 square foot mosaic was just installed at Union Station in Washington DC. The mosaic is made of thousands photos of other suffragists and it was unveiled to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women’s Equality Day next week which marks the certification of the 19th Amendment to the constitution that granted women the right to vote in 1920.
It's always great when good people are recognized, no matter when it happens... Bravo!
