What's Happening at Home & Out: Kentucky Derby & The World Series of Spades

Kentucky Derby is usually the social event of the spring… but it’s finally happening today after being postponed due to COVID. The stands at Churchill Downs will be empty for the race… but you can put on your best hat, make a mint julep and watch on NBC. Coverage begins at 1:30pm CT and race post time is at 6:01pm CT.

And here’s hoping attention on the race in Louisville will also bring more attention to Breonna Taylor’s murder by police there in March and there are still no charges. Last night, the New York Times premiered a documentary featuring new details about her killing on FX and it’s streaming on Hulu.

If you want to get out, get some sun and do some good in the hood, Herban Grown Community Garden celebrates its grand opening at 69th& Stewart today at 1pm… bringing health and wealth to Englewood with music, art and of course beautiful green space!

There’s a new show out that will get you heated, ready to bid your hand and call out those who renege… the World Series of Spades organized by comedian Clint Coley premiered this week on Facebook Watch. Check out the trailer here!

Whatever you choose, have fun and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
