We’ve lost two black music legends this week…
James Brown’s legendary emcee and cape man Danny Ray passed away Tuesday of natural causes at the age of 85. He worked with James Brown for 46 years and became well known for draping the cape on the hardest working man in show business.
And here in Chicago, we mourn the loss of an entertainment giant… legendary Chicago entrepreneur, club and hotel owner, Herman Roberts passed away on Monday at the age of 97. Roberts Show Lounge and the 500 Room were where the South Side saw the best of black entertainment in jazz, blues and R&B from the 50s through the 70s. His interment will be in Las Vegas due to COVID restrictions, but a celebration of his life will be held in Chicago at a later date.
Let's honor our music history by keeping the love for it alive, during Black History Month and all year long!
