This week brought the good news that President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill passed and that stimulus checks of $1400 could be hitting your account as early as this weekend. His first prime-time address as president on Thursday night gave me hope. It brought some new and different energy to the conversation.
Here are a few other things you may also get in the American Rescue Plan: dependents get checks now, including students and disabled family members, families will see $3000-3600 in extra money per child for the year, extended unemployment benefits, housing and student loan assistance, cheaper healthcare premiums through ACA as well as free COBRA premiums through September and you could get reimbursed up to $7000 for COVID funeral costs. Check out the post outlining the highlights from Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez below!
There’s also a mandate out to make all Americans eligible for vaccines beginning in May and Governor Pritzker is trying to push that date up so we’ll all have access to it sooner in Illinois. For more information on getting the vaccine if you live in Englewood, Chatham and Auburn-Gresham, click here. To quote a lot of lawmakers this week, help is on the way!
