As we wrap up Women’s History Month next week, we’re celebrating another excellent example of Black Girl Magic today with actor-writer-producer Issa Rae!
The 36 year old creator of the HBO hit “Insecure” just renewed her deal with HBO and parent company WarnerMedia for 5 more years. Her deal is reportedly worth $40 million and will bring a variety of projects from her Hoorae media label to HBO, HBO Max, New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers Pictures.
In a cover interview with Variety magazine, Issa said in addition to “Insecure,” she’s already been working on about 15 different productions with the company, including dramas, unscripted television and documentaries.
So happy to see a young visionary who said she was “rooting for everybody black” continuing to do just that by telling our stories everywhere, becoming a major media mogul and getting PAID to do it!
Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
