Usually, you’d sweat real hard when you hear the IRS is reviewing your return, but this time, it’s a good thing.
If you received unemployment in 2020 and you filed your return before President Biden’s America Rescue Plan passed in March, you may get more money back, because that bill changed the amount of tax you pay on your unemployment benefits. After the review, the IRS estimates about 10 million Americans will get a bigger refund or a reduction in the amount they owe the government. And if you haven’t filed yet, don’t forget the pushed-back deadline is Monday (5/17).
And in other money news, the city’s got jobs for young people this summer… and applications are down, so there’s a better chance of getting a job. One Summer Chicago has over 20 thousand jobs and internships for anyone between 14-24 and you have until June 11th to apply.
Go on and secure that bag!
